Winter fun in Bancroft, Ontario!

Take a trip away from the city and head up north to partake in some winter fun!

Taking a trip to Bancroft, Ontario in the heart of winter is definitely something that I would suggest to anyone and everyone! Not only will you enjoy the stay in a nice warm log cabin, but the drive up is guaranteed to be beautiful!

Winter is truly something spectacular when you decide to accept it and take part in it, versus just impatiently waiting for spring to come. In the northern wilderness winter brings countless beautiful sights. Blankets of snow, untouched and pristine covering lakes, trees and everything the eye can see.  You’ll gaze upon puffy white smoke coming out of the smoke stack, huge icicles hanging from the eavestrough and maybe if your lucky you’ll even  spot some bunny trails!SAM_1846

Now, what is there to do when you get there you may ask?

Snowshoeing is always a fun time and allows you to reach places that you wouldn’t normally get a chance to see in the summer. Tobogganing down hills with fresh powder and trying to ride the toboggan like a snowboard always makes for some fantastic and wacky wipe outs.

But hands down one of the most enjoyable things to do up north in the winter is to clear your own skating rink! Walking out onto the ice covered in several feet of snow, shovel in your hand, snowflakes in your hair and hearing the “badump” of the water under the ice. Now I must admit, it’s not like the nice fresh Zamboni generated ice you’ll find at the recreation center, but rustic ice with some bumps uneven patches!

Snow brings joy! So head up north grab a shovel and a friend, clear off some thick ice and lace up your skates! Take some time away from the hustle and the bustle to enjoy a nice quiet skate at sunset with good company and perhaps some hot chocolate in hand 🙂

Toronto Ripley’s Aquarium

Imagine walking under water. Fish swimming over your head, sharks so close you can almost touch them and looking at what appears to be the ocean floor only to realize it’s a fish hiding in the sand. Imagine walking around forests of kelp as high as a two story buildings and observing  entire walls of jelly fish light up in beautiful colours. Imagine seeing seahorses with masterful camouflage while also observing amazingly bright fish that demand your attention.  Such is the magical experience of the Toronto Ripley’s aquarium.

Going to the aquarium is definitely an amazing experience! Right in the heart of Toronto it is a great edition to the downtown experience 😀

Adult admission for the full day is  $30, which is reasonable for the experience, you wont regret going, but if you go during the midday hours (especially if it is on the weekend) the place will be packed, so if you want some romantic time or just a relaxing visit you should go later in the day or at night.

That being said, there is a HUGE amount of fun things for kids (and us big kids) to do! The whole aquarium is very family oriented with lots of fun places to take pictures and explore!crabtunasubmarine

Also, Ripley’s has a bunch of interactive activities all over the aquarium including petting sharks, sting rays and horseshoe crabs 🙂petting shark

All in all, taking a trip to the aquarium is a guaranteed fun time. Standing on the conveyor belt that takes you on an underwater adventure is truly a surreal experience. Everywhere you look you’ll see fish of all shapes, sizes and colours swimming over your head, and if you’re lucky you may even catch sight of some handsome looking fish 😉

Who I am and why I’m here

I do not want to live the typical life set out by western society, one in which we are conditioned to think that life has a linear defined path which we must follow, a life always in a rush. I want to start a life of adventure with unknown surprises and challenges that bring me to all corners of the world.

I’m here because life is to short to not see and do all the things you want to, especially when we are young. It is possible for all of us…we just need to take the first few frightening steps to the freedom of actualization.

My wanderlust began and now it must be quenched. It all starts here with the quenching my need for adventure by seeing the world in all of its amazing raw and refined beauty.
